JOB VACANCY NOTICE:
IMA is a non-profit organization, with a 16 year history in the DRC implementing large, complex health programs to improve maternal and child health. For a new public health campaign that aims to educate the public on life saving health behaviors in 5 provinces of DRC, IMA is searching outstanding individuals for its film production team. Through this project, this team will produce 12 original series episodes that will be shown at movie nights across DRC.
MISSION
Design film elements that are inspired by the cultural context of targeted rural areas and that show proof of creativity, use of humor, drama, emotion,
Create and compose film scripts that convince people, especially in rural areas, to change behaviors
Contribute to qualitative research to improve outputs
Produce high-quality film elements aimed at women and men in rural and peri-urban areas
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
1. Participation in basic research
Conduct regular immersion visits in rural areas
Collaborate with research team to understand socio-cultural reality, especially in terms of public health and nutrition
2. Create and write film scenarios and scripts
Work daily in teams to conceive and imagine realistic scripts and scenarios
Write refined, entertaining film scenarios that accurately convey the health message as defined by the research team
Translate and adapt English scripts to specific cultural contexts
Ensure translation quality
3. Produce film outputs
Participate in filming series
Contribute to editing film outputs
Contribute to film production
PERSONAL QUALITIES
A rich, fertile imagination
Knowledge of the socio-cultural reality and experience of mothers and children in rural areas
Team spirit, openness and flexibility
Ability to analyse situations and behaviors
Precision in statements/writing
Proficiency in at least one of the following local labguages: Swahili and Tshiluba; knowledge of other local languages is a plus
Willingness to work in rural areas
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines strictly
Able to translate knowledge of the socio-cultural diversity of DRC region into comical or dramatic stories
A good level of English (written and spoken).
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor degree is an asset
Any candidate who does not meet the qualification requirements but can nevertheless show their potential will be considered
All candidates should write a video script, of a maximum 600 words, that aims to convince rural mothers to exclusively breastfeed their newborn child the first 6 months of life. Your script should be entertaining. Please provide a script in french, along with an English summary.
