DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT

3. Duration: Until 30 June 2024 with possible extension

6. Description of tasks:
Under the direct supervision of the DDR Team Leader, the duties of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration (DDR) Assistant will include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the drafting of field office-level DDR and Demobilization, Repatriation, Resettlement and Reintegration (DDRRR) related workplans, procedures and projects.
Liaise with other substantive section Teams within the field office, relevant provincial government authorities, and community to advance internal and external coordination of DDR and DDRRR efforts.
Support the planning and implementation of disarmament, demobilization, and reinsertion as well the disarmament and repatriation activities of Congolese and foreign combatants respectively, to include sensitization, weapons registration and storage, screening interviews and identification, verification and profiling.
Assist in collecting information on the national and foreign armed groups (AGs) organizational structures, trends, and dynamics, including security and political developments as well as information regarding stabilization and PoC mechanisms.
Support the operationalization of the national DDR program “P-DDRCS” while working with colleagues and partners in monitoring of the community stabilization and socio-economic reintegration of ex-combatants.
Assist in delivering training workshops, seminars, and induction courses on DDR and DRRR, in compliance with related SOPs and other policy documents.
Contribute to awareness-raising, sensitization and/or information sharing by liaising with the DDR Sensitization and Communications Unit in HQ and other relevant partners on DDR policy, strategy, plans and projects.
Provide inputs for reports in French and/or English using MONUSCO information technology assets or, when not available, in handwritten form.
Undertake any other relevant tasks and duties as requested by the Team Leader.
7. Qualifications/Requirements:
Required Degree level: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Education - Additional Comments: A bachelor’s degree in the fields of management, public administration, social sciences, development, security studies or other relevant fields is required.
Required Experience: 36 months.
Experience remark: 3 years of relevant work experience in planning, development and implementation of projects is required.

English (Mandatory), Level – Fluent
AND - French (Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of Expertise:
Disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR), arms control, armed forces is mandatory
Emergency response, immediate relief operations, and post-conflict humanitarian aid operations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required and in other applications—programming, statistical analysis, design, and/or project management—is desirable.
Previous working experience with an international organization is an advantage.
