- Summary:

The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Political Assistant in the Political Section.
The work schedule for this position is:
Full Time (40 number of hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
Under the supervision of Deputy Political Counselor, incumbent maintains contact with official and private Congolese at all levels. Keeps Political Counselor informed of political developments and current events. Prepares analytical and biographical reports. Introduces Embassy officials to Congolese contacts. Makes appointments for official calls. Assists political officers in travel to the interior. Acts as official greeter for large Embassy receptions. Translates documents from French to English and from English to French. Serves as official Embassy translator and interpreter providing simultaneous interpretation as required.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years of Political Affairs experience in DRC, Kinshasa preferably. Professional experience using English is required.

EDUCATION:
Possession of a Collegiate Degree in Political Sciences, International Relations, History or related field. Collegiate level study in/of English

Level III (working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required.
Level IV (Fluency) speaking/reading/writing French is required.
Good working knowledge of one of the most spoken local languages is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Incumbent needs to be able to type 40wpm (Level II) for Bio files, text message, use email, and be proficient at Word and Excel.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
