Responsibilities: Within delegated authority Associate Finance Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
• Reviews, reconciles and processes a range of accounting transactions, in accordance with UN Financial rules and regulations and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) on a regular and recurring basis.
• Responsible for the issuance and control of petty cash funds, to ensure compliance with the UN Financial Regulations and Rules.
• Assists in ensuring that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
• Researches and analyses information needed to respond to audit findings.
• Quickly responds to queries from staff members and third parties
• Supervises and mentors other staff as required.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: A first-level university degree in accounting, finance, business administration or in a related area is required.

Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in financial research and analyses; the application of financial principles of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS); UMOJA; control of petty cash funds.
Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written French is required. Fluency in oral and written English is an advantage.
