Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Field LogOps Supervisor, the Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

  • Classify and file appropriately all reports, correspondences and memos to and from Logops office
  • Translate documents, letters , MOU’s or memos as requested by the LogOps Supervisor or the FAO
  • Collect weekly report activities from ISS sections
  • Complete request forms and follow-up the supply and re-supply of office stationery and other sundry items
  • Screen military request forms before passing it to the LogOps Supervisor or the FAO
  • Assist in coordinating the required logistics support within the Field Office/Area of Responsibility ( AOR) with different ISS sections, MilObs and contingents as directed
  • Participate in logistics recce missions and draft recce reports
  • Liaise with local authorities on land occupied by MONUSCO in Area of Responsibility.
  • Receive weekly reports from ISS sections, draft the weekly logistics reports and submit it to LogOps Supervisor for review
  • Monitor logistics status for all military contingent deployments
  • Screen all monthly and other JTRs from different sections and contingents. Pass them to LogOps Supervisor for review/approval before sending to Mission Level for further approval
  • If required, assist MONUSCO Staff and authorized Non-MONUSCO personnel (Local Authorities, NGOs,etc.) during evacuation period
  • Draft the weekly escort program for all the units and then submit to LogOps Supervisor for approval before submission for action
  • Perform any other duties as and when assigned by Log Ops Supervisor and FAO

Qualifications:

Education:  High school or equivalent diploma is required. Certificate of any course related to Administration/Logistics is desirable.

 

Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience in Logistics.

                     Prior Logistics experience with MONUSCO or other UN Agencies is desirable

                     Proficiency in encoding of data and in the use of MS office applications (Excel, World, Power point) is required.

Possession of a valid national driver’s license is required

 

Language:  English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written French is required. Fluency in oral and written English is an added advantage.
