Internship (Stage) – Bunia & Dungu (RDC)

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Master’s degree qualification in Water and sanitation/University-advanced degree in Engineering/environmental. Partcipating to different clusters, good ability to provide project reports, registration and analysis. Ability to manage water and sanitation challenges in rural areas and knowledge of the basic requirements for an effective and sustainable water and sanitation program. Communication skills with ability to work closely with CESVI local staff, beneficiaries and partners. Willingness to undertake a qualifying experience in the development cooperation sector, and to capitalize on it. Excellent knowledge of French, written and spoken. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES Previous experience in W&S interventions and working experience in foreign countries. Knowledge of European Union and ECHO administrative and procurement procedures. Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work cooperatively. Good knowledge of English and Italian both written and spoken.

WORK CONTEXT CESVI works in Congo RDC since 2001, with the double commitment to assist the victims of the humanitarian crisis in the Eastern provinces and to support the health sector in Kinshasa. CESVI’s main sectors of intervention in the East are rehabilitation of infrastructures, water and sanitation, education, and protection. Each project is coordinated by an expatriate staff. General coordination, logisitcs and administration is located in Bunia. The PM assistant will be based in Bunia and Dungu and will support the responsible for the coordination of the water facility program. The local context is focusing on education and rehabilitation of water infrastructure, interventions with displaced, including the sector of protection.

JOB DESCRIPTION The collaboration will start in middle October 2012. The main duty station will be the Regional Office in Bunia (East region) with frequent transfer to Dungu territory and possible periods in the Dungu office. The intern will act as Project Assistant supporting the Project manager (PM). Main tasks: – She/he will support the RC in developing and coordinate the project activities in Ituri region; – She/he will support the RC in the management of all resources (human, financial and material); – She/he will support the RC in undertaking regular visits to the activity location to gain a clear understanding of project conditions, requirements, and constraints; – She/he will support the RC in supervising and supporting the local staff by setting clear work goals and objectives; – She/he will liaise with other International and Local NGOs; – She/he will assist in administration’s activities; – She/he will assist the PM in the preparation of the intermediate and final report.

The Intern will work under the direct supervision of the CESVI Regional Coordinator in collaboration and cooperation with all the expatriates in the Country.

PLEASE NOTE: THE INTERSHIP AND THE FLIGHT ARE NOT PAID. CESVI WILL COVER ONLY INSURANCE AND ACCOMODATION (IN OUR GUESTHOUSE).
